09122009

Here's a picture of the unfinished dress for my mom. My dress form is a size 34 and my mom's a 36. That's why it looks a bit loose here and there.

This is my first bigger project ever since I quit fashion school. Maybe I should have picked another fabric than satin to get back into sewing clothes. Damn you slippery red devil!
It will have straps once it's finished by the way. Next I have to do the zipper...

I got a stamp made for my Etsy shop :)

Amy will get the first tag with the new stamp.

My busy week is going as expected so far. I can't wait for the weekend.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I watched Jennifer's Body. It's not a good movie at all but I still liked it and it was entertaining. It was written by Diablo Cody who's awesome! I loved her book Candy Girl. It was hilarious.
I've never seen Juno though, which was also written by her.
Anyway if you like horror-comedys you should watch Jennifer's Body.

I just realized I haven't done any of my 10 random pictures I love today-posts in a while... so here you go :)

Winner!

The winner of my x-mas giveaway is Amy from http://thelonelyteapot.blogspot.com!

Jeez, my week will be really stressful so don't expect too many posts from me.

• school monday nite + homework before that (go me for always waiting till the last minute to do my homework)

• school thursday nite

• several random appointments on all other days

• finish sewing a dress for my mom that she wants to wear on the 11th.

• making my dad's christmas present

• knitting for my etsy shop and custom orders.

• study. study. study.

I can't wait for my christmas holidays! Only 2 more weeks.

p.s.
if this picture makes you laugh then you're awesome!

Samichlaus

In switzerland (and I think most parts of europe) we don't have santa claus like in the states. Here he's called "Samichlaus" (=Nikolaus in Germany) and he comes on december 6th. He doesn't bring the gifts (that's the job of the "Christkind" on christmas eve) but chocolate, cookies, peanuts and mandarins. The tradition is that he comes with his helper "Schmutzli" (=Knecht Ruprecht in Germany). He reads out of his big old book if the children were good this year or not. If not he says he will put them in Schmutzli's big sack and take them with him to the dark forest. But if they were good they get a little bag with the goodies in it.
When I was little I was extremely scared of the "Samichlaus". He would come visit us at the kindergarten and eventhough I don't think I was a very good and polite kid (I was kind of a brat) it never said so in his big book ;)
Oh yea and he's also not fat like Santa haha but really skinny.

I tracked down english recipes for the three most famous swiss christmas cookies. My favorites are the Mailänderlis. Everyone I know loves them too so I would definitely try these out if you have time.

What are some christmas traditions where you live? And what's your favorite christmas food?
